Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival
The Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival is one of the largest festivals of its kind celebrating all things sheep, from hoof to handwoven.
Usually held the 1st weekend in May, check website for exact dates.
Every year we volunteer at the Sheep Shearing at the Staten Island Zoo. Some members get fleece... which of course needs to be cleaned.
A few Pointers:
As per suggestion in our "Skirting" post.... we recommend that you send your fleece to a professional service to get it cleaned.
But if you feel the need to do it yourself, do some research before you start so you don't end up with a felted mess!
