Tina Bliss, fiber artist

3/22/2016

A DIY fiber evangelist and member of the Staten Island Handspinners and Weavers Guild since 2010. I am passionate about fiber and took a deep dive into weaving after joining this guild. Members have been a source of inspiration.

I have studied weaving at FIT, at the Vastuga Swedish Weaving School in the Berkshires and at many workshops in the Northeast, and with Tom Knisely, formerly of The Mannings, now at Red Stone Glen Fiber Arts Center. I have studied with Rebecca Mezoff in her online learning classes (fabulous!). I participate in workshops when I can, at MAFA, Newark Museum, Jockey Hollow Weavers to name a few.

I am a member and webmaster of the New York Guid of Handweavers and a member of Jockey Hollow Weavers in Mendham, NJ. I volunteer for MAFA (MidAtlantic Fiber Association).

I weave fiber art "memory" pieces, along custom order for more traditional household items that make wonderful gifts and wedding presents.
  • cotton and cottolin placemats and table runners
  • cotton and cottolin tea towels
  • cotton baby blankets
  • cotton, wool or acrylic rugs
  • cotton or wool blankets
  • and scarves of many different fibers.
  • My weaving is for sale on ETSY.

I collaborate with artist Susan Grabel, weaving assemblages from collagraph prints.
